Jail time not enough for Johnstown man

Police: Inmate repeats act that landed him behind bars

POSTED: November 21, 2009

EBENSBURG - Apparently a four-month jail sentence wasn't enough to teach a Johnstown man a lesson Friday about kicking at a window in his holding cell at the Cambria County Courthouse.

The unruly man, Matthew Greene, 22, of Wood Street was zapped with a stun gun in the courthouse after he became belligerent and flailed at a deputy who was escorting him from his sentencing on institutional vandalism Friday morning.

"He started calling a deputy a bunch of names, using foul language, and then started flailing at him with his cuffs on," Sheriff Robert Kolar said of the incident, which caused a scene at the courthouse around noon.

It prompted nearby courthouse employees to hit an alarm button, alerting a second wave of deputies to respond, although Kolar said the incident was quickly defused and the deputy was not injured.

"We were escorting him into the holding cell and he started kicking at the window shield again - the same thing that got him sentenced in the first place," he said, noting that when deputies called for a Taser, Greene said, "Go ahead."

One shot was fired, Kolar added.

"We didn't have to stun him again," he said. "He was cooperative very quickly."

He needs thrown buck naked into the shower and tasered a few more times after he's soaking wet. Then maybe give him a little "Blaket Party" later after lights out.

The judge gives a guy a light sentence and this is how he thanks the system. I hope it gets doubled the now.

These people have it too easy when they are actually in jail, that's why they do things to go back or stay. We need to treat certain prisoners like the s*** that they are.
