Debra L. (McCabe) Douglas

Debra L. (McCabe) Douglas, 52, Claysburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Raymond and Betty (Inman) McCabe.

Surviving are her parents; loving sons: Jacob John of Claysburg and Jeremiah John, married to the former Janet Kennedy, of Lilly; cherished grandsons: Marcus Jeremiah and Lucas Jeremiah Douglas; treasured siblings: Gail (McCabe) Tarachko, Vicky McCabe and Dean McCabe, all of Portage; adored nieces and nephews: Leah, Sheena, Scott, Josh, Jessica, Duncan, Austin and Hannah; great-nephews: Dawson and Asher; as well as numerous special friends.

Debra worked for Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring, as a material preparation supervisor. She was involved in many volunteer efforts and contributed to charities in the local community and churches. Her generosity to others was a part of her everyday life that made her happy.

Deb left us with her favorite Psalm: "Lord, I feel you all around me giving peaceful sleep, walking with hope and joy, providing calm in the storm in the arms of those I love."

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, and 10 to the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Martindale Alliance Church, Pastor Terry Farr and Pastor Tim Dietrich officiating. Committal in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Blue Knob.
