Moving an all-star running back to quarterback might have been risky, but it seems to have worked out for the Central High School football team and Lucas Runk.

Central won the Mountain Athletic Football Conference Nittany Division championship this year, and Runk was only player from the Mirror coverage area to capture unanimous first-team all-Nittany Division honors at the conference's awards banquet Sunday night.

The Scarlet Dragons, who were awarded the division title by virtue of a head-to-head win against Tyrone in the final game of the regular season, received eight first-team Nittany selections. The Golden Eagles had six, and Huntingdon netted five.

Hollidaysburg linebacker Luke Rhodes picked up first-team all-Seven Mountains Division honors. The Golden Tigers finished in a three-way tie with Central Mountain and DuBois for the top spot in their division.

Joining Runk on the Nittany first team were Shane Cafferty, Mike Ferry, Trent Forshey, Eric Keefer, Jimmy Mock, Jordon Saylor and Brandon Smith. Meanwhile, Eric Desch of Tyrone made the Nittany first team at two positions - receiver and defensive back. Other Eagles on the top squad were Adam Bonsell, Levi Reihart and Jared Templeton.

Andrew Cerrett, Andrew Hallahan, Nate Mykut, Jake Reid and Tyler Whitesel were Huntingdon's first-team recipients, with Philipsburg-Osceola's Zack Czap and Steve Rusnak also taking home first-team Nittany honors.

Clearfield lineman Andre Buck, Clearfield receiver Trey Campman, St. Marys running back Kevin Hoy and St. Marys linebacker Sean Sadosky were the only other unanimous Nittany first-teamers.

Hollidaysburg had eight first-team picks on the Seven Mountains Division team. Rhodes also made the team on offense and was joined by his older brother, Sam, along with Chad Barton, Nathan Detwiler, Colt Edwards, T.J. Keefer and Kevin Willis.

The Golden Tigers' James Muir made the second team at three positions, including QB and running back.

Central Mountain's Scott Zuback was a unanimous first-team selection at running back and punter. DuBois Justin Crytser, Bellefonte's Torin Miller and Central Mountain's Logan Houtz, Harley Sellinger and Ski Stringfellow also were unanimous all-division picks.
