Investigate shooter’s radical ties
Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., is right to abandon political correctness in his desire to know what effect, if any, Islamic terrorists had on the man accused of killing 13 people and wounding 29 others at Fort Hood, Texas.
Lieberman is seeking an investigation of links between the accused killer, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, and Islamic radicals.
On the other hand, some national leaders are taking the approach that we should conclude quickly that Hasan was motivated solely by his own mental illness. Our nation's tradition of religious tolerance argues against accusing other Muslims of influencing Hasan, they say.
That is not entirely true. Many Muslim leaders have condemned Hasan's actions. A few have praised him.
The American tradition of tolerance does not extend to religious leaders who advocate needless violence.
Lieberman is right to insist that more needs to be known about whether Hasan was influenced by Muslim radicals.

Malarly.. You are the one that is full of malarky; It is bout time media starts to print the truth. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why this muslim officer did what he did..He had spread the word on what he thought about America and the war in afgan and his not wanting to be deployed to fight and maybe kill some of his fellow muslims fighting against America in afgan. The only thing he knew was Follow his bible the koran KILL ALL INFIDELS; THAT IS OUR CHRISTIAN NATION; malarky. Take the blinders off and see and read the truth for once.. THANK YOU ALTOONA MIRROR FOR HAVING THE GUTS TO PRINT THE TRUTH AND FOR ALLOWING WE FREE CHRISTIAN AMERICAN'S TO VOICE OUR OPINION. May other media follow your lead.

All the warning signs missed again (9-11). Political Correctness. Now we are going to bring Gitmo prisoners to the US. Invite all the relatives and friends to visit them (because in the US they can not be denied visitors) God knows we will play our politcal correctness game with them, we can not offend a Muslim right, Barry's best friends! Ohara Airport will be one of the most UNSAFE places to work or commute to. Good Luck American's!

Remember when the media wondered "why didn't we connect the dots" before 9-11? There were plenty of dots here as well, but they weren't connected either. Hasan even gave a Powerpoint presentation to stunned doctors in the Army saying infidels should be beheaded and boiling oil poured down their throats. Imagine if a fundamentalist Christian had done that. The lamestream media would have gone berserk and demanded his removal. But, since he's a Muslim and doesn't have white skin, he's in a protected group. And due to the doctrine of "multiculturalism", forced on American institutions by left wing radicals since the 60's, we must tolerate sociopathic and bizarre behavior in people from other cultures that we would never tolerate in Americans. If you don't, you're branded a "xenophobe" by the PC police. The time to investigate radical ties is before people get killed, not after.

How about if he were strapped with bombs, joe? Would that make you call him a radical? Probably not. Political Correctness in this country has gone too far over the edge.

Wow, this is a tough call by Joe. I think it's time to drop 'radical' from in front of islam because I'm still waiting for an islamic leader to condem 9/11. Should probably quit holding my breath.

Well, first he will get courtmartialed, then a dishonorable discharge, then Ft. Levenworth and a firing squad would be appropriate.
