MILL CREEK - One person died Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on Route 22, state police at Huntingdon said.
The name of the deceased man was not released, pending family notification, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Huntingdon County Coroner Ron Morder.
The crash occurred about 4:15 p.m. when the man, driving a Chevrolet Cavalier, crossed the center line near Mill Stone Manor in Henderson Township and collided with an eastbound Honda Accord, Cpl. Brian Lewis of the Huntingdon barracks said.
The two occupants of the Accord, whose names were not released, were flown by medical helicopter to Altoona Regional Trauma Center.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation late Thursday. Toxicology tests would be conducted on the deceased driver, Lewis said.
Firefighters from Mill Creek, Mapleton and Huntingdon and the Huntingdon Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
Route 22 traffic was backed up for about two hours as a result of the crash.

First off I think that you all need to take in to consideration the families involved with this accident. You all jump to your conclusions without any evidence of what really happened and how your inconsiderate comments will make those families feel. This woman was traveling from work and with the time span we are talking about would have had no time to stop for alcohol so grow up and respect the families of those involved.

I hope the news media gets the facts straight first. It was a woman she was distantly related to my husbands ex-wife. Yes everyone is titled to their own opinion. but lets wait and see before we all start posting comment. This is horrible and i am sure the family on both sides needs our prayers. I pray they will all recover from this terrible tragedy.

Yes, plain stupidity--like excessive speeding. I had to travel Rt. 22 today and drove through the aftermath of two pretty nasty crashes. I noted so many drivers (truckers too) driving far too fast for the road, not to mention the intermittent wet weather. One truck had laughable mud flaps that did nothing to stop the spray of water flying up behind both lanes of traffic behind it. Talk about dangerous!

Trust me (Blogsniper) fatal crashes are everywhere not just in Huntingdon County. Mifflin County has it's share of fatal accidents. Mostly involving either A) drugs or alcohol or B) Plain stupidity

Sure, I'll let the toxicology reports come out, perhaps I will be wrong, but 9 times out of 10 it is alcohol/drugs that cause accidents like this. I'm an expert on my opinion, so therefore, I don't think it's stupid.

Itsnoteasybeingright: Well said. There are a plethora of possible medical conditions that could have caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle. You're entitled to your opinion, but lets try and keep the stupid opinions to yourself.
