Robert G. ‘Bob’ Kearns Sr.

Robert G. "Bob" Kearns Sr., 82, Hollidaysburg, died Tuesday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

He was born in Williamsburg, son of Thomas and Anna (Sneath) Kearns. He married Marjorie Jane Overcash Oct. 2, 1948, and she preceded him in death July 27, 2000.

Surviving are two sons: Robert G. Kearns Jr. and David B. Kearns, both of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Linda L. Tantanella and husband, Don, of Scranton and Diana J. Beiswenger and husband, Jerry C., of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Stephanie Jean Kearns, Andrew, John, Lucas, Donald and Leah Tantanella, and Kimberly, Jessica and Rachael Beiswenger; two great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Mark Tantanella; a brother, Eugene Tate of Williamsburg; a sister, Marjorie (Tate) Reish of Pennsylvania Furnace; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired as a carpet cutter from Wolf Furniture after many years of service. He was affiliated with Juniata Valley Gospel Church.

Bob loved spending time with his family.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a memorial service at 8 p.m., Pastor David McCaulley officiating.
