Bishop. Joseph V. Adamec of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, has announced that the Very Rev. James F. Crookston will serve as rector of St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown and pastor of the parish effective Wednesday. Crookston succeeds the late Monsignor George B. Flinn, who died in September.
Crookston served pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Altoona a position he has held since 1997 and the dean of the Altoona Deanery. Prior to his post at St. Rose, he was pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Lock Haven for eight years.
Crookston was ordained a priest May 15, 1971.

Saylor
The Rev. Brian R. Saylor will be the pastor of St. Rose. He was the pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Coupon and the diocesan director of vocations. He was ordained in 1999.
Deacon Steve A. Luke will serve as temporary administrator of St. Joseph.
The bishop has named Rev. Mark S. Begly, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Lakemont, as the dean of the Altoona Deanery.
