Name: Cliff Drury
Age: 61
Residence: Altoona
HIGH SCHOOL: Philipsburg-Osceola, Class of 1966
I usually attend games with: My wife, Cathy
My favorite sport: Football
My all-time favorite local player to watch: Brad Benson during his days at Altoona
My all-time favorite local coach: Chuck Goldthorpe, the one-time wrestling coach at Philipsburg-Osceola
My favorite high school team: Altoona
My favorite college team: A tie between Penn State and Ohio State
My favorite pro team: Steelers
The most famous sports person I have ever met: I?met Shaquille O'Neal in the lobby of a hotel in Boston while attending a teachers' convention.
My most prized sports photograph/memorabilia: We have a hash mark from the Ohio State football field. They remodeled the field so we took a piece of the old field.
My sports claim to fame: My son, Andy, was a member of the Ohio State marching band, and as a sousaphone player, he got to the dot the I when the Buckeyes played Michigan State in November of 2004.
If I were the czar of local sports, the one thing I would change would be: That coaches would not be allowed to make the players on their team play just one sport. Kids should be allowed to play more than one sport. They should encouraged to play in as many sports as they want.
