Tastings At Twilight, a celebration of wine, food and crafts will be held against the backdrop of a summer evening at the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark, Sunday, August 30th. The evening will begin with transportation provided from the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum, located at 1300 - 9th Avenue, Altoona.
Those attending Tastings At Twilight will sample wine made throughout Pennsylvania. Other vendors also include cheese makers, chocolatiers, gourmet foods, non-alcoholic beverages and crafts. Live music will be performed throughout the evening by local musicians. Learn from the experts how to pair the right wine with the right dish. Find just the perfect present to give yourself or others. Attendees will not only enjoy samplings, but there will also be items to purchase from vendors that evening.
Sponsors and VIP ticket holders will enjoy a private reception at the Top of the Curve beginning at 4:00 pm. An added feature for those attending at The Top of Curve will be samplings of Wente Wines from California. Founded 125 years ago, Wente Vineyards is the country's oldest winery to be the continuously operated family owned winery. These limited number of ticket holders will also take part in the Courtyard Samplings.
Courtyard Sampling tickets will grant admission to the Courtyard of the Horseshoe Curve from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets will also be sold at a discounted price to Designated Drivers who will be required to not partake in the wine sampling for the evening.
A silent auction will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 pm featuring donations from the participating vendors and local community businesses. New with this event is Blast of Grapes, where you purchase a chance to pick a grape to find your prize.
"We wanted to highlight the awareness of the importance of Family Services Incorporated while bringing a new event to our area," states Vicky Mirenda, event chairperson. "A wine and food sampling during a summer evening at the Horseshoe Curve seemed to be the perfect occasion."
Sponsorships and Vendor Applications are still available. All proceeds benefit Family Services Incorporated to assist those that need a helping hand in our community.
Tickets are $65 donation for VIP Reception at the Top of the Curve, $30 donation for Courtyard Samplings and $15 donation for Designated Drivers. No one under 21 years of age will be permitted to attend this event. Photo ID will be required at registration.
All tickets to Tastings At Twilight include a tasting journal to record your favorite labels and a collector tasting glass.
