Music fest starts Aug. 21
JOHNSTOWN - The inaugural AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival will be held Aug. 21 through Aug. 23 and features a lineup of musicians that includes national recording artists The Derek Trucks Band, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Donna the Buffalo and Ruthie Foster.
The event will be held in Johnstown's Festival Park downtown, and features three stages continually programmed. Music will run from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Aug. 21; noon to midnight Aug. 22 and noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 23.
Admission is $5 Aug. 21 and $10 Aug. 22 and 23. A weekend pass, which also serves as an individual event sponsorship, will be available at three levels - Bronze for $20, Silver for $60 and Gold for $90. Children younger than 16 or accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.

Group presents 'Miscast'
The Order of the Daughters of Isabella will present "Miscast," a comical tribute to Broadway musicals at 8 p.m. Aug 21 and 22 at the Knights of Columbus, 1508 12th Ave., Altoona.

Sesame show comes to area
JOHNSTOWN - The 30th season of "Sesame Street Live" touring productions will bring the show "1-2-3 Imagine! with Elmo & Friends" to the Cambria County War Memorial Arena for shows at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30.
Tickets will be $12 and $14 for general admission seats, $18 for premium seats and $23 for Gold Circle seats. A fee of $2 will be added to all ticket prices and additional fees and discounts may apply.

Native artist gets exhibit
BEDFORD - The work of Bedford native William Snyder III will be the focus of the new exhibit at the Bedford County Arts Center.
On display through Aug. 28 will be works Snyder created with funding from a Pennsylvania Council Creative Fellowship Award.
TCP casting for new show
TYRONE - The Tyrone Community Players will hold auditions for "Cliffhanger," the first production of their 25th anniversary season, at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 and 31 at The Building, at the corner of Logan Avenue and 10th Street.
The cast features five people and some roles are not gender-specific.
Call backs, if necessary, will be Sept. 8, with the full cast read-through the next day.
A full rehearsal schedule will be announced at the read-through, with rehearsals beginning Sept. 14.
The comedy thriller will be directed by Jim McDonald of Tyrone and will be performed Oct. 17 and 18.
Vassar plays Seven Springs
CHAMPION - Seven Springs Mountain Resort will present country music artist Phil Vassar at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the resort's Grey Rocks Amphitheatre. The Chris Higbee Project will be the opening act for the show.
Vassar got his start in country in the 1990s as a songwriter - being named ASCAP's Country Songwriter of the Year in 1999. As a solo artist, he has hit the Billboard country charts with 17 singles.
