Two sisters give birth on July 4

When his daughter Ashley Wallace of Duncansville went into labor in the wee hours on the Fourth of July, Hollidaysburg resident Jim Faith said he thought his other daughter, Selena Steffan of Karthaus, might soon follow.

Within a few minutes, both sisters were in labor, and on July 4, Faith had two new grandsons.

"We thought it would be pretty cool, but we never thought it would happen," said Wallace, who gave birth to Quinn Michael Wallace six hours before her sister delivered son, Wyatt James Steffan.

But the similarities don't end there.

Both baby boys weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and their fathers, Jonathan Wallace and Jesse Steffen, both work at the same company, HRI Inc., in State College.

Ashley Wallace, 24, said the sisters' due dates were only a day apart, and in the end, both were late and neither was induced into labor.

Selena Steffan, 32, said both mother and baby were doing fine and Saturday night they got to watch the fireworks at Beaver Stadium from their room at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

"I had a feeling they'd be the same day," said Jesse Steffan, 33. "I just didn't think it would be the Fourth of July."

He joked that he didn't think the office could handle having two guys taking time off.

"I don't think I can approve him being off for a week," Steffan joked. "I might have to pull rank."

"Quinn will have fireworks every year on his birthday," said beaming dad, Jonathan Wallace, 24, as mom and newborn son recuperated after their at-home birth.

Quinn Micheal Wallace joins 2-year-old brother Korben at home.

Wyatt James Steffan is the Steffan's first child.
