PHILIPSBURG - Josh Muir carded a 141 to win the championship flight of the Walter Swoope Men's Tournament Sunday at Philipsburg Country Club.

Nate Lucas (145) took second, while Doug Goss (150) was third. Adam Timchak won the first flight with a 159. Gary Byron (162) took second, and Ed Yarger and Dave Brown (165) were third.

Keith Hahn won the second flight with a 156, while Kevin Hahn (170) took second, and Andy Reifer (171) was third. Al Pettina captured the third flight with a 166. Max Miller (168) was second, and Harry Nelson (179) was third.

Fred Weller carded a 177 and won a two-hole playoff against Rich Jones to win the fourth flight. Randy Way and Ray Joe Millward (179) took third. Joe Matsko won the fifth flight with a 185, while Drew Tocimak and Lynn Herman (196) placed second.

Rob Earnest captured the sixth flight with a 193. Jim Soltis (195) finished second, while Dave Spotts (200) was third.

Nancy Moskel and Georgie Myers won the women's championship flight with a 121. Vickie Pettina and Cathy Jo Miller (124) finished second, and Gabi Barnett and Georgiann Way (128) took third.

North East Juniors

HUNTINGDON - Tyrone's James Russell carded an 81 to win the boys 16-18 Oakmont Division of the North East Junior Golf Tour Monday at Huntingdon Country Club.

Hollidaysburg's Mark Colapietro won the boys 16-18 Pine Valley Division with a 109. Hollidaysburg's Cameron Humphrey (83) took third in the boys 13-15 Oakmont Division, while Hollidaysburg's Jordan Kirsch and Altoona's Christopher Michelone (113) tied for fifth.

Altoona's Evan Farrell (95) and Ben Manecke (96) placed second and third, respectively, in the Pine Valley Division. Hollidaysburg's Scott Cohen (104) and Kyle Covert (114) were fourth and sixth in the same division, while Mann's Choice's Keith Best (105) was fifth.

Hollidaysburg's Danny Stubbs (119) took second in the boys 10-12 Pine Valley Division.

Russell (87) finished fifth in the boys 16-18 Oakmont Division of the Tour June 25 at Mount Odin Golf Club.

Summit

CRESSON - Dave States and Ed Ivory carded a 62 to win the Summit Country Club's John Merlini Day Classic Sunday.

There was a three-way tie for second at 63 among the teams of Doug Fogel and Ralph McCloskey, Rick Friggle and Rich Patton and Brent Krug and Russ Krug. Warren Rhyner and Brady Eckenrode tied with Bernie Fabbri and Guido Fabbri for fifth at 64.

Skill prizes were won by Shaun Lepore (closest to the tee on 4), Brian Vinglish (closest tee shot on 8), Mike Dziabo (closest tee shot on 12) and D.J. Michina (closest second shot on 17).

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG - The team of Joe Aungst Jr., Dave McCoy, Vince Farabaugh and Mary Barnes carded a 33 and won a scorecard playoff to take first place in the Sylvan Hills Golf Club's Sunday Scramble.

The winning team won the playoff over Roger McDaniel, Robert Stewart, Brian Walters and Eleanore Trimarco. Jack Flude, Gary Zimmerman, Mary Jane Terza and Loretta Scheiter (34) placed third.

Western Pa. Golf

SEWICKLEY - Altoona's Artie Fink Jr. carded a 212 and tied for fourth in the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association's 109th Amateur Championship Tuesday at Allegheny Country Club, and Duncansville's Sean Brannan finished a stroke back at 213 in eighth place.

A week earlier at the 105th Open Championship at Westmoreland Country Club, Altoona's Tom Koehle carded a 157.

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON - Ed Gargula and Larry Newton carded a 38 to take the low gross in the Huntingdon Country Club's Big Orange League.

Bob Orr and John Hughes scored the low net of 35. Newton's 45-foot putt on the first hole was the shot of the day.

Scotch Valley

TYRONE - Anthony DeGol captured the Scotch Valley Country Club's Men's Match Play Championship last week, while Bill Good finished second.

DeGol and Jake Biltz won the Ebensburg Country Club's Two-Man Invitational, and DeGol was one of 12 who qualified for the Pennsylvania Amateur by shooting a 72 at Tottenridge Golf Club.
