TIPTON - NASCAR logos soon will be appearing on various New Pig Corp. products and New Pig logos on NASCAR race cars.
New Pig and NASCAR recently announced an exclusive agreement, making New Pig the official licensed provider of heavy duty wipers and sorbents for NASCAR.
"This allows us to use the NASCAR mark on our products where appropriate," said Andy James, New Pig brand manager.
New Pig mats and heavy duty wiper socks and booms had been used by about 10 NASCAR teams and garages, James said.
"Now our products are likely to be used by more than 10," James said.
NASCAR approached New Pig about entering into a partnership, said Willie Engram, NASCAR senior manager of business development.
"We have been using their hand towels and a lot of absorbent materials for cleanup," Engram said. "They have quality products, and we think this is a good partnership."
"We are excited to have a company with a product line as innovative as New Pig's join NASCAR," said Odis Lloyd, managing director of NASCAR's Automotive Group. "We plan on working closely with New Pig to introduce their products both in our garages as well as our fans' garages and raise awareness of this partnership through our marketing programs."
New Pig officials agree.
"We're excited about our exclusive partnership with NASCAR, and what it will mean for our customers and our company," said Ben Stapelfeld, New Pig chairman of the board.
He said the partnership is a good opportunity for the corporation to connect with the NASCAR audience.
"We also look forward to developing our relationships with NASCAR teams, many of whom already use Pig products in their shops," Stapelfeld added.
In addition to the officially licensed status, New Pig will add a contingency sponsorship in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, NASCAR's national championship program for short-track racing. More than 10,000 drivers compete at nearly 60 NASCAR-sanctioned short tracks throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Sometime next year, New Pig logos will appear on some of the Whelen All-American Series race cars, which will provide great exposure for New Pig, James said.
