Penn State received its 11th verbal commitment for its 2010 football recruiting class on Wednesday, and it's a name that fans of the Nittany Lions and area high school sports have heard before: Levi Norwood.

A 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver, Norwood received a scholarship offer after a strong showing at Penn State's camp over the weekend and called Lion assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Mike McQueary to give his commitment Wednesday, FightOnState.com reported. Norwood is the son of former Penn State assistant Brian Norwood and the younger brother of Jordan Norwood, who just completed his career as one of the top five receivers in PSU history and is currently trying to catch on in the NFL.

Another brother, Gabe, helped lead State College to the PIAA Class AAAA basketball title and was the sixth man on George Mason's 2006 NCAA Final Four team.

Levi Norwood played football and basketball at State College before moving to Waco, Texas, when his father took Baylor's defensive coordinator's job last year. He didn't play for Midway High School in 2008.

According to FightOnState's Mark Brennan, Norwood is open to the possibility of coming in as a grayshirt - a player that enrolls in January to count toward the next year's recruiting class.
