Four Blair County businesses owe Pennsylvania money.
OIP Enterprises Inc., Altoona, owes $16,773.56; Dan's Famous Hardwood Barbeque, Roaring Spring, owes $16,174.59; Fox's Pizza Den, Duncansville, owes $15,527.73; and K&B Bargain store, Duncansville, owes $8,837.17.
The local businesses are listed among 223 businesses on the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue's tax delinquent list that owe the state nearly $7.4 million in sales and/or employer withholding taxes.
The amounts listed on the Web site www.revenue.state.pa.us represent the original liens, and because of payment or additional cost, could differ from what is actually owed, according to a press release.
"You can't not pay the state," said a man who identified himself as the owner of K&B Bargain store when contacted by the Mirror Friday afternoon.
The man, who refused to give his name, said he fell behind and is working on paying off the debt. The business was added to the list this month.
OIP Enterprises Inc. is a separate business from OIP of Hollidaysburg, owned by Errol Scavone, who said he had to fight to get the liens taken out of his name after they were filed by mistake against him.
The former owner could not be reached for comment along with the owner of Dan's Famous Hardwood Barbeque.
Fox's Pizza Den did not return a phone call.
The list was started in April 2006 with 702 businesses listed, of which 479 were removed after paying, making a payment plan or going out of business.
