Pitt presents kids festival
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will present the 23rd annual Pittsburgh International Children's Festival Tuesday through May 17. The Children's Festival takes place in various venues throughout the city's university district of Oakland, including Schenley Plaza. The festival is currently one of only four international theater festivals for children in the U.S.
The Children's Festival features an array of staged performances by international artists, including the U.S. premieres by companies from the Republic of Congo, Spain and the Netherlands; stage productions of the classic books "Good Night Moon" and "The Runaway Bunny"; a performance by Compagnia TPO from Italy; the world premiere of "Harmony Street," by local artists Resonance Percussion; and Mister Rogers' Neighbors.

Additional free performances will be held at the Target Community Stage located in Schenley Plaza under the round tent.
Festival Grounds Activities will take place weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chorus hosts guest quartet
The Our Town a cappella quartet is one of several groups that will be featured in the Altoona Horseshoe Chorus Show "Come Rain or Come Shine," to be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mishler Theatre.
The Horseshoe Chorus performance is based around a script co-written by "Ghosts, the Musical" playwright Will Jones.
Also performing during the show will be the Altoona chapter of the Sweet Adelines and a dance ensemble from the Altoona Dance Theatre.

Creed returns for new tour
BURGETTSTOWN - Creed, one of the most successful rock bands of the past decade, has reformed with all four of the original band members and will kick off their summer tour with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion.
Creed sold more than 20 million albums before their breakup in 2004.
Tickets for the show will be $29.50 for lawn seats, $39.50, $65 and $85 for reserved seats and $85 for pit tickets. A four-pack of lawn tickets will be available for $99. TCP performs dinner theater
The Tyrone Community Players will return to The Casino at Lakemont Park for a dinner theater performance of the comedy "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" on June 19.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show beginning at 8 p.m.
Tickets for both the dinner and show are $35. A cash bar will be available.

Jazz singer to play area
STATE COLLEGE - Philadelphia-born jazz musician Melody Gardot will perform at 8 p.m. June 25 at The State Theatre.
Gardot's new album, "My One and Only Thrill," was released in the U.S. April 28.

'Idols' touring to Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH - The "American Idols Live 2009" Tour - featuring the top 10 finalists from this year -will visit Mellon Arena at 7 p.m. August 22.
The "Idol" singers who will be appearing are Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre. Lambert, Gokey and Allen are still in the running to win the popular Fox reality series.
Tickets for the concert will be $40.50, $55.50 and $69.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
