ROCKWOOD - A Patton man died Friday after crashing his vehicle in Somerset County.
State police at Somerset say Gary J. Molitsky Jr., 27, was traveling on East Mud Pike at a high rate of speed, lost control of his vehicle and hit an embankment, going airborne and hitting trees before coming to a rest in a field. (See obituary, Page A9.)
Police say Molitsky, a Marine and Iraq war veteran, wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
A passenger, Philip G Reich, 48, of Meyersdale, was hurt, but his injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
