A CNN crew will be at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, today to film interviews for the network's "Economic Report" program.
The program on colon cancer prevention, to be aired in May, will feature Dr. Ralph McKibbin, a gastroenterologist and Altoona Regional's cancer liaison physician.
McKibbin, who recently received the Commission on Cancer's Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award - one of 55 physicians nationwide to receive such recognition - said he was contacted by CNN late last year.
"They wanted to do a piece on colon cancer, and my name just came up," McKibbin said. "I am excited about it."
McKibbin said the crew will be filming for eight to 19 hours throughout the day.
The crew also will be filming during McKibbin's colorectal cancer staging lecture at noon in Magee Lecture Hall at the hospital.
The CNN crew also will film interviews with Dr. Howard M. Black, a gastroenterologist, and Dr. David Cowger, senior vice president of quality medical affairs and a patient of McKibbin's.
McKibbin practices with Blair Gastroenterology Associates.
