11:50 a.m.: 10 arrested in drug sweep

POSTED: April 6, 2009

Officers from eight area police departments, along with the U.S. Marshall's Department and the District Attorney's office arrested 10 people in Blair County this morning in a drug sweep.

District Attorney Richard Consiglio said the sweep was the culmination of six months of investigation by the Blair County Drug Task Force.

Operation Our Town funded the operation, which was aided by calls to the Push out the Pusher hotline.

Mirror reporters are working on a story for Tuesday's paper.

Well Donna Marie, Let me explain. Half way houses that the City and County receive money for to bring the trash to Altoona. That's one. Second is the Meth Labs. Although constitutionally legal it brings Rif Raf. Third is the new highway system linking I-99 to I-80. A gateway for people to travel. This will also bring trouble. Finally it has a lot to do with the economy. No money means people are going to turn to the crap. This means they need money. Stealing, Killings, Robberies. All of this is part of the first wave. I wish my posting two years ago was available. It simply states that Altoona is going to see more trouble than they've ever seen with all the above opening up and the roads. I love my hometown but anymore its not safe either and I live in Los Angeles. Trouble everywhere. Carry a gun and cover your own butt!! That is what I say.

just a tad. But I was always taught, it has to have some truth to be really funny. I also normally don't apologize for speech, but I do feel a little regret for my crassness in the subway thread. There was no mention of fatalities in the first article.

dna: I assume you are being a tad facetious, but there is a modicum of truth / reasoning to your posting.

Klaus, They can't publish the photos. That would prevent the drug court and the DA from flipping 5 of them to be future informants. And then we'd be able to recognize the other five that were previous informants.

The Mirror usually just publishes the names of these wayward folks ... why not their pictures too? That way, if we see one (or more) of them hanging out on the corner, we can make a call to the PoP hotline. Just a thot.
