Coroner: Cove teen died from combination of prescription drugs, alcoholMarch 20, 2009 - From Mirror staff and wire reportsINDIANA - An autopsy indicates that a Roaring Spring teenager found dead in a dorm room at Indiana University of Pennsylvania died from a combination of prescription drugs and alcohol. Brenton F. Croll, 18, a student at IUP, was pronounced dead about 1 p.m. Wednesday after being found by a friend. Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker says further testing will determine which drugs were involved in Croll's death. Baker said Croll was reported to have been drinking heavily Tuesday night before returning to Lawrence Hall. Instead of heading to his room on the fourth floor, Croll went to a friend's room on the first floor, where he was last seen about 7 a.m. by a student who woke up for class, Baker said. That student later returned to the room, and when he couldn't awaken Croll, he called 911. Baker said foul play is not suspected. Croll graduated in 2008 from Central High School, Martinsburg, then enrolled in the nursing program at the university. A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Leslie Miller Funeral Home, 810 Bedford St., Claysburg. |
