Adam Whetstone, a Claysburg-Kimmel graduate wrestling at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, earned All-American honors by placing fifth in the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Tournament March 13-14.
Whetstone won his first two matches, a 9-3 decision over Cory Bloodgood and a 6-5 decision over James Annon before dropping a pair of matches. Whetstone rebounded to win his fifth-place match, 7-3, over Ben Lockett.
Fellow Claysburg-Kimmel graduate Ryan McIntyre defeated Jacob Roberts, 8-4, in the first round but then dropped two straight matches and was eliminated.

Andrew Garofoli, a Bishop Guilfoyle graduate, was named the Freedom Conference player of the week for his performance on the Wilkes University baseball team in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in early March.
Garofoli hit .519 with four doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs in 27 at bats. Garofoli had four hits in a victory over SUNY Plattsburgh.

Northern Bedford graduate Brooke Over helped her Shenandoah University softball team earn a 7-1 record at the Rebel Spring Games held in Florida in early March.
Over was named the USA South Conference softball rookie pitcher of the week. On March 8, Over picked up a win by throwing 6 innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out seven. Two days later, Over tossed 7 innings in relief, allowed six hits, two earned runs and had nine strikeouts in a 10-5 victory. A day after that performance, Over recorded a save by getting the last four outs in an 11-8 win.

Andy Lytle, a Bishop Guilfoyle graduate, pitched a seven-inning, five-hit shutout for Allegany College in a 13-0 victory over Garrett College March 4. Lytle had 11 strikeouts in the game.
Lytle also got a save in a 6-4 win over Lenior Community College Feb. 27.

Samantha Reimer, an Altoona graduate, led the Edinboro women's basketball team in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game. Reimer also led the Fighting Scots in assists, with 89 and was second in steals with 49.
She made a team-high 56 3-pointers and shot 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Reimer is sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,424 points.

Marlena Carnicella, a Cambria Heights graduate, picked up a victory on the mound for the Point Park University softball team last week at the Wild World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Carnicella allowed no runs, struck out nine and allowed just one hit in the 5-4 win.

Hollidaysburg graduate Alyssa Erb struck out nine for the Juniata softball team in a 12-0 victory over Wentworth March 10.

Brittany Sedlock, a Northern Cambria graduate, played in 24 games - starting the final 14 - for the St. Vincent women's basketball team.
Sedlock led St. Vincent with 178 rebounds, averaging 7.4 per game along with averaging 6.3 points per contest.

Cambria Heights graduate Amber Dubyak scored 14 points, six rebounds and had three steals for the California, Pa. women's basketball team in a first-round Division II NCAA tournament victory over the University of D.C.
Dubyak then added 11 points, nine rebounds and had four steals in a 87-48 win over Charleston in the second round March 14.
California, Pa. will take on Gannon in the Sweet 16 tonight at 7 p.m.

Adam Waddell, an Altoona graduate, a senior at John Hopkins University competed at the Centennial Conference Championship on March 1 and took first place in the pole vault with a leap of 15 feet and took second place in the high jump with a leap of 6-foot-1 inches.
On March 7, Waddell competed in at Virginia Tech and set a new John Hopkins indoor track record with a vault of 15-foot-3 inches.

Laura McNair, a Hollidaysburg graduate, was part of the fourth place 200 free relay team which finished with a time of 2:03.98 at the Ed Kennedy Meet this past season for the Bloomsburg swimming team.

Ryan Navarro, an Altoona graduate, teamed with Casey Chew to win at No. 2 doubles for the Juniata tennis team March 10. Huntingdon graduate Aaron Rhodes won his No. 2 singles match, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 10-2 in the Eagles' 5-4 loss to Eastern Nazarene.
