TNT tattoo parlor waiting for Guinness to ink record

TYRONE - Whether a Tyrone tattoo studio broke the world record for the most tattoos in a 24-hour period is up to the folks at Guinness now.
TNT Tattoo and Body Piercing owner Will Myers said a single tattooist completed 804 tattoos Saturday in 15 1/2 hours. That's about one per minute.
"It went very well," Myers, 31, said Tuesday.
He said one customer "donated his leg" to get 170 1-inch-by-1 1/2-inch sticks of dynamite tattooed on it.
Myers said the studio did its best to adhere to the stipulations set by the Guinness Book of World Records and said all accompanying paperwork and a continuous video of the marathon session would be sent for verification.
"There's that chance Guinness will say we didn't make it, but we stayed within their stipulations as close as possible," Myers said.
Regardless, Myers said the event raised $4,500 for Grandma's House, a Washington, D.C., charity that helps children affected by HIV.
One of the customers who took part in the attempt was Emeigh resident Mark Stouffer, 41, who had his dynamite tattoo inked atop his shaved head.
"I thought it was a good cause, and I wanted to do it," Stouffer said. "I feel they put on a good display here and did a good job. They're real friendly. It was a good time."
A Texas tattoo artist was certified as the record-breaker last year with 726 tattoos, followed by another attempt in the fall by an Arizona artist who did 803. Myers said he wasn't sure if the the Arizona attempt had been certified, so he and artist John Streightiff decided to break that number just in case.
"I didn't think it could be done, but we did it," Myers said. "Regardless of Guinness, everyone will know we got it. At the same time, Guinness has the last say."
Several attempts to contact Guinness about the record attempt went unanswered.

Oh and I am proud to have taken part in helping a sick child by getting the tattoo, I will remember my small part in helping for the rest of my life, unlike some arrogant, uneducated, and totally tasteless people who make fun of the event.

Hey MUCOUS1 and OooohNoooo since when were tattoos considered hillbilly's? Do you even realize what these tattoos were really for??? $4,500 was donated to a charity for children with HIV, the same guy also raised enough for a playground in DC for the same charity with piercings. Shows how hillbilly U personally are u a**holes. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Great job guys and gals at TNT tattoo! Honestly I had my doubts, but I am glad you reached your goal. I am very happy that the money raised is going to such a good cause. Great Job! Being from Tyrone I passed by your store at around 11:00 p.m. and saw that you had signs out front advertising the event. I hope Guiness gives you the top title.
