Women discovered in Mount Union housing complex; police investigate as homicidesMirror news staff
Two women were found dead inside a Huntingdon County housing complex, state police at Huntingdon said Saturday.
Police are investigating the killings of Christine McWhorter, 22, and Beatrice Daniels, 31, both of Mount Union, in the Federal Drive housing complex in Shirley Township.
Police said someone reported discovering the women's bodies inside an apartment in the complex about noon Saturday. Police indicated the crime may have taken place after 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Investigators are interviewing neighbors, friends and family of the women and are constructing a timeline of events leading up to the discovery of their bodies, police said.
Police had no further information at press time. Huntingdon County Coroner Ron Morder and District Attorney George Zanic could not be reached for comment.
Phone numbers listed under the victim's names have been disconnected.
The area is not unaccustomed to problems.
A Huntingdon County man was jailed in January 2006 after his arrest in connection with an attempted homicide of a man at the Federal Drive housing complex.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 627-3161.

DEREK28 that was a good post. I realize I got a bug up my *ss about this but as you see from my post I do have some reason to got ticked. I think Alcohol does far more damage to society than other drugs and so I don't like generalizations made about "druggies" as they could be your mother father sister or brother and they are still humans who deserve compassion. So I will let this go now...and thanks for your reasoned response.

Let me see if I can get this across to you straight so you will understand. My best friend since we were 8 years old was attacked and paralyzed from the neck down in Kansas City. He was the manager of a sports bar there. His crime was trying to stop drunken fans of one sports team from slashing the tires of the rivals teams cars in the parking lot of the sports bar. One of these drunks beat my friend with a tire iron and bruised his spine paralyzing him. The attackers excuse when they were sentenced was that they were drunk. If you drink ANY alcohol means in my mind the same as you feel when people use drugs. You are a druggie who supports violence and crime. So if I have an agenda Yeah sure I do. You put me and this ****** addict who died in the status of sub-humans and I will say if you drink at all you are the sub-humans who foster violence and SUPER high insurance costs to society considering my best friend needs 24 hour care just to live. So if you drink...screw you.

I know both these girls, they were 2 of the best people you would ever meet. They were always the best natured. ALways smiling. Christina worked and furthered her education just so that she could give her children the best in life. She was very caring, and this should have NOT happened to her! She didnt do drugs! She was against drugs. She barely had time to do anything excpet work, school, and family. She had the personality that we all should have. She was really a great girl. As far as her aunt B, she was also a great person to know. She took care of the children while Christina went to school and worked. She was one of a kind too. This is truly a shame! The person who done this needs to be beaten to death! I hope they find this guy and fry his ass in the chair! These girls were two of the best people that you would ever know. They are in heaven where they can watch over the 2 babies who lost the only family that they knew! Rest In Peace Christina and Aunt B! We will miss them both

lambs1~I like how you've taken 3 words from my comment and taken them out of context. To clarify, I meant a more positive picture of Mount Union/Huntingdon County. I think the smaller towns in the Mirror's readership would appreciate seeing both the negative AND positive aspects of their hometowns in print. Homicides are definetely news, but so are outstanding schools/civic groups/volunteerism/business openings and expansions. Please consider my entire comment.

I'm originally from Huntingdon County and I can say without a doubt, that it's not too often that you can find a positive article about Mount Union in the Mirror. It seems the only news is bad news. Yes, Federal Drive is one of the public housing sections...it's the same situation we find in Altoona. It's too bad that we don't hear more positive and uplifting stories..
