More than 50 area businesses and individuals were honored Dec. 2 when the Altoona Mirror held its seventh annual Hometown Favorites recognition dinner in the Soho Room at The Casino at Lakemont Park, Altoona.
Altoona Mirror readers nominate favorites in each category then vote between three finalists in the Hometown Favorites program.
This year, Mirror General Manager Ray Eckenrode announced the creation of a Hometown Favorites Hall of Fame. The four members of the inaugural class include Pine Ridge Bridal Outlet (bridal), Hong Kong Buffet (Chinese restaurant), Hosss Steak & Sea House (buffet) and Bob Pennington (realtor). All won their categories in the first six years of the contest.
