JOHNSTOWN - Both Bishop Guilfoyle and Johnstown were looking to move to 6-3 and gain momentum into the District 6 playoffs.
It was the Trojans who came out fast and overpowered the Marauders Friday night, 36-19.
Johnstown ran a reverse on the opening kickoff in which Quadir Christian pitched the ball to teammate Jordan Jefferson, who took the ball down to the Marauder 20-yard line.
It took the Trojans five plays to find the end zone as quarterback John Siciliano called his own number and scored from 4 yards out.
Bishop Guilfoyle wasted no time to answer as Chris Damiano took the Trojan kickoff back for an 85-yard kickoff return for the touchdown.
On Johnstown's next possession, Bishop Guilfoyle was able to force a fumble giving the Marauders the ball in Trojan territory. They were unable to capitalize, going three and out.
Bishop Guilfoyle again went three and out, as the Johnstown defense continued to put pressure on the Marauders' quarterback, Chris Brown.
"They brought a lot of pressure,'' Bishop Guilfoyle coach Marty Georgiana said.
After a Marauder punt that went backwards, Johnstown wasted no time on scoring. Siciliano found paydirt for the second time on the night from 2 yards out, giving the Trojans a 14-6 lead with 5:54 remaining in the second quarter.
The fast and athletic Trojan defense forced another Bishop Guilfoyle punt.
Johnstown executed a picture-perfect two-minute drill as Siciliano eluded Marauder defenders picking up 42 yards and putting the Trojans into the red zone. Two plays later, Quadir Christian, who went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season, scored his first touchdown from 1 yard out.
"John Siciliano is a person that every team has to worry about,'' Johnstown coach Kevin Marabito said.
The third quarter started very similar to what Bishop Guilfoyle did most of the first half - with a punt.
Bishop Guilfoyle's defense was able to come up with a big stop on the Trojans' next series, forcing a field-goal try. Jon Maurizio was able to hit a 39-yard field goal, making the hole for Bishop Guilfoyle just a bit deeper to climb out of.
After a 58-yard kickoff return by Andrew Passonetti, the Marauders were finally able to find the end zone, as Brown scored from 2 yards out.
The celebration was short-lived, as Christian scampered 69 yards for the touchdown.
The Marauders were forced to punt from the back of their end zone, and after a Christian 30-yard return, that set up Siciliano for his third touchdown of the game from 1 yard out.
Bishop Guilfoyle found the end zone one more time as Brown hooked up with tight end Alex Shaffer for a 1-yard pitch and catch.
Guilfoyle then recovered an onsides kick but was unable to put any more points on the board, as the Trojans forced a timely fumble to seal the victory.
