Event raises $35K for J.C. Blair

HUNTINGDON -- Thirty-two teams played for prizes and bragging rights at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital medical staff sponsored golf tournament at Standing Stone Golf Course on Aug. 13.

The goal of this year's tournament was to raise funds to purchase new patient-controlled analgesic pumps throughout the hospital.

The pumps are state-of-the-art pain management equipment that provide medication to patients as needed and are programmed for patient safety.

There were winners in two divisions.

The top team in Division I was sponsored by R&M Distributors and included Ryan Strickler, Bob Rightenour, Dave Fyock and Ed McEwen. The second-place team was sponsored by Geoff and Cindy Clarke and included Geoff Clarke, Keith Black, Al Weyant and Ed Gargula.

The top team in Division II was sponsored by MeadWestvaco and included Perry Smith, Randy Norris, Bernie Huebner and Brad Reiter. The second-place team was sponsored by Balfurd's Healthcare & Linen Rental and included Bob Fogelsanger, Matt Schraf, Roy Reeve and Bill Barnes.

Prizes were also awarded to the 10th-place team -- in honor of the tournament's 10th year. The 10th-place team was sponsored by HealthSouth Rehabilitation and included Scott Filler, Dr. Rakesh Patel, James Jonosik and Doug Helsey.

Skill prizes were awarded to Kevin Steel for longest putt on hole 18, Larry Mitchell for closest to the pin on hole 4, Angie Thompson for straightest drive on hole 13, Ryan Strickler for longest drive (men) on hole 15, Dana Yakimczyk for longest drive (women) on hole 15 and Larry Johnson for closest to the pin on hole 11 with a hole-in-one.

Members of the tournament committee were Lynne Bayer, Steve Clemons, Wanda Curfman, John Franks, Vicky Huggler, Robb Ritchey, Mary Jane Smith, Karan Sunderland, Janet Wertz, John Wolanski, Dana Yakimczyk and Belinda Zauzig.

The tournament sponsor was the J.C. Blair medical staff.

The Ace Sponsor was D.C. Goodman & Sons Inc.

Eagle sponsors were AIG Retirement, Huntingdon Gastroenterology Associates, ParenteRandolph Accountants & Consultants and QHR.

Par sponsors were American Insurance Administrators, Balfurd Healthcare & Linen Rental, Bonney Forge Corp., HealthSouth Rehabilitation, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Individual, Family and Community Services, MeadWestvaco and Mutual Benefit Group.
