From Mirror staff reports
The Mirror is set to introduce a series of products aimed at providing news, information and support for area parents.
First and foremost will be a Web site called MirrorMoms .com that will debut next week. The site will include stories, forums and blogs and provide parents with a chance to share questions, advice, experiences and even pictures.
It will launch Monday - the same day as a monthly section, also called MirrorMoms.com.
The section, which will run on the third Monday of each month, will feature timely local features, along with regular columnists focusing on children's health, relationships, cooking, reading suggestions and sportsmanship in athletics.
It also will contain puzzles and short stories and other content formerly in the monthly Kids Mirror, which has been redesigned to be incorporated into MirrorMoms.com.
"In the old media world, we wanted our products to connect with readers. And while we still want that, we also have this wonderful ability now to develop products that help readers connect with one another,'' Mirror General Manager Ray Eckenrode said.
''Very few groups of people seek out that kind of connection more than moms and parents do. MirrorMoms.com is a perfect example of how we can adapt to serve our readers and advertisers in this digital age.''
The kickoff event to recognize the Web site and the publication will be held Friday at the Logan Valley Mall. It will be in conjunction this year with the Mirror's Health and Wellness Show.
Plans are in the works to stage a MirrorMoms.com expo at the mall in 2009 designed to "provide parents with a one-stop shop for the most popular and up-to-date parenting and educational resources and trends," Mirror Marketing Manager Amy Hanna said.
