The NitWits television show, a weekly discussion of the Penn State football program, will have a new format for the 2008 season.
The program will be produced by WTAJ-TV and will air on Sunday nights following the news at approximately 11:30 p.m. beginning with a season preview on Aug. 24.
Regular panelists Neil Rudel of the Altoona Mirror, Mark Brennan of fightonstate.com and Mike Irwin, the Lions' 1966 co-captain, will be joined by new WTAJ Sports Director Nick Foley.
"This is a wonderful partnership between WTAJ and the Mirror," WTAJ General Manager Phil Dubrow said. "Together, we are going to bring the people of central PA a dynamic, locally produced Penn State show."
As in the past, the NitWits, entering their 11th year, will also be seen during the week on Altoona Public Channel 13 and on altoonamirror.com.
''The Mirror is recognized nationally as a leader in Penn State football coverage, and this gives us a great opportunity to extend that brand beyond print, online and cable access to broadcast television as well," Mirror General Manager Ray Eckenrode said.
The show will air 15 weeks, including a season preview and a pre- and a post-bowl show.
Penn State opens its season Saturday, Aug. 30, hosting Coastal Carolina.
