Hollidaysburg opens against Punxsy
STATE COLLEGE - The Hollidaysburg American Legion baseball team opens its first Region 7 Tournament against Punxsutawney at 1 p.m. today at the Shaner Sports Complex.
Hollidaysburg captured the Central Penn Legion title Thursday with a 5-0 win over Mifflin County. Punxsutawney won the Jefferson County title by beating Clearfield earlier in the week.
In the other games today, Somerset faces Latrobe at 4 p.m., and Kiski plays Indiana at 4:30 on the other Shaner field. State College plays Westmont at 7.

MARTINSBURG - Nate Port went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs as Altoona White won the opening game of the six-team, double-elimination Garver YMCA Pony League All-Star Tournament for 14- and 15-year-olds by a 19-8 count over Curry Supply at Central High School.
Matt Frederick also had three hits for Altoona, while Jeff Ingram, Andrew Rupert and Andy White chipped in with two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Both teams are now 3-1 in the tournament. If Mount Union defeats Bellefonte and Huntingdon beat Bald Eagle Area today, the teams will meet for the championship Sunday.
