Atlantic Broadband adds 9 high-definition channels

From Mirror staff reports
POSTED: June 27, 2008

JOHNSTOWN - Atlantic Broadband added several high-definition channels in the Altoona and Johnstown areas, and on Monday will add the highly requested ESPNU channel to its digital service tier.

The new high-definition channels include:

n A&E HD on Channel 785.

n ESPN2 HD on Channel 782.

n Discovery HD on Channel 786.

n Disney Channel HD on Channel 778.

n Animal Planet HD on Channel 787.

n TLC HD on Channel 788.

n TBS HD on Channel 790.

n Showtime HD on Channel 794.

"The addition of these nine quality services helps Atlantic Broadband reach a critical mass of movie and sports programming in HD, and we bring our customers HD feeds of local broadcast stations that satellite providers simply cannot," David Dane, Atlantic Broadband senior vice president and general manager, said in a prepared statement.

ESPNU, which will be on Channel 303, is a 24-hour network featuring nearly 500 live college sports events, including football and men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, ice hockey, wrestling and more.

ESPNU also offers comprehensive studio programming such as SportsCenterU, ESPNU Coaches Spotlight, ESPNU Recruiting Insider and National Signing Day.

Bloomberg, currently on Channel 303, will relocate to Channel 314.

Atlantic Broadband serves more than 150,000 customers in central Pennsylvania. Its regional headquarters is in Johnstown, with additional customer service and technical support facilities in Altoona.
