PSU’s Taylor, Bell given suspensions

Penn State defensive lineman Phil Taylor and receiver Chris Bell have been indefinitely suspended from the football team, according to fightonstate.com.

Penn State spokesman Jeff Nelson could not confirm the report Thursday, saying he had not heard about any changes to the roster.

Taylor and Bell have not been kicked off the team, fightonstate.com reported, meaning both players could be reinstated at some point.

Centre County prosecutors have mentioned several times that Taylor may be charged in connection with a campus fight in October. Defensive lineman Chris Baker, linebacker Navorro Bowman and defensive back Knowledge Timmons currently face charges from that incident.

Witnesses testified at a preliminary hearing to seeing Taylor participate in the fight. The criminal complaint also revealed Baker told police he saw Bell jump off a table trying to kick the victim.

It’s unclear if the players’ alleged involvement in the fight led to their suspensions.

For those of us living outside the immediate area nearly all we hear and see about these incidents are the damning allegations etc from witnesses and very little from the players or witnesses for the defendants. I understand how the system works and how attorneys warn their clients about making statements. Sadly the system makes these kids "appear" guilty from the get go! Hope these issues get resolved one way or the other in the near future, hopefully before spring practice rolls around. Things got to be awefully slow in the Centre County Court System, the first incident dates back to April of last year. What's up DA? B Rex
