Hollidaysburg library plans activities

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced several programs for January.

Adults and children are invited to January Hobby Month at the Children’s Room of the library.

Children’s librarian Melanie Ramsey has arranged for several individuals to share their unusual hobbies:

n Audri and Ben Walters will share information about their pet rats from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan. 10.

n Noah, Claire and Terrie Confer will hold a program on ‘‘Cuddly Confer Chihuahuas’’ from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan. 16.

n Erin Cooley, local scuba diving enthusiast and member of the Westsylvania Divers Club, will share stories, descriptions and examples of his diving equipment from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan. 22.

n Ramsey will lead participants (ages 10 and up) in creating Goth Sock Puppets from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan. 31.

Ramsey and her assistant, Zoeann Hoover, will hold several story times in January, including night and weekend sessions.

Hollidaysburg Crime Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the library. Concerned area residents are invited to attend.

The Mystery and Mayhem Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 and 29.

This month’s books are “The Dangerous Hour’’ by Marcia Muller and “Killing Games’’ by Iris Johansen. Copies of the books are available for purchase at the library.

Participants can take their teacups and join the discussion.
