She was born in Linwood, Pa., daughter of Dr. George F. and Adelaide (Pennell) Crothers.
Surviving are a sister, Elaine C. Fay of Martinsburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Catharine Pemberton. Ruth resided with her niece and nephew, Jerry and Pam Hoy, for 33 years at their home in Williamsburg.
