Melvin A. Calhoun II

Melvin A. Calhoun II, 40, Roaring Spring RR 1, died Sunday afternoon at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of Melvin A. Sr. and Anne L. (Keirn) Calhoun. He married Lisa Decker July 14, 1990, in Martinsburg.

Surviving are his wife; two children: Elizabeth Ann and Aaron Michael, both at home; his parents of Roaring Spring; a sister, Renee Kiesel of Duncansville RD; a brother, Ronald Calhoun of Roaring Spring; and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin previously had worked at Blair County Prison and as an auctioneer for several years.

He was a 1985 graduate of Central High School and 2005 graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College, where he completed training for auctioneering and appraisal services.

Melvin enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, fishing, collecting antique tractors and Boy Scouting. He was serving as cubmaster of Pack 57. Melvin had attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of the Cove R/C Funflyers and the Altoona R/C Club.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Baptist Church, Martinsburg RD, by Pastor Mark Biter. Interment at East Sharpsburg Cemetery, Roaring Spring RD.
