My favorite sports memory: Winning the regional final as a coach in 1999 and participating in the Florida High School Final Four.
The local athlete I most enjoyed watching while growing up: Mike Iuzzolino
My all-time favorite local coach: Tie — Dave Benton (Bishop Guilfoyle, Altoona H.S); John Meehan (PSU-Altoona)
The most famous athlete I ever met: Rick Rhoden. His son attended Father Lopez in Daytona Beach. He loved basketball and came to all of our home games at Lopez.
My most prized picture is of: Photo of my 1998-99 team after we won the regional championship.
If I have a claim to fame as a fan it would be: My basketball team defeated Max Starks’ team three times during the 1998-99 season. Starks, the current Steeler lineman, played basketball for Lake Highland Prep.
If I were czar of local sports: I’d like to see more facilities for kids and and a greater emphasis on sportsmanship.
