
Locals struggle during Commonwealth Clash
This past Tuesday evening the WOO Sprint Car Series invaded the Lernerville Speedway in force and so did thousands of its fans which soon saw the SRO sign posted. Truly there wasn’t a seat to be had in the house.
The attraction was the annual “Commonwealth Clash” with most of the top sprint car drivers in the nation showing up to do battle with the locals and a handful of top Pennsylvania Posse drivers from down East.
As you know if you are a regular reader of this column, I’ve always felt the WOO drivers had a distinct advantage in that they run time trials at each event while our locals seldom are involved in the time-trial scene. Because the line-ups that follow are based on the time trials, it does indeed give the WOO drivers a distinct advantage when feature line-up time rolls around.
However, Tuesday night went differently as the top-10 posted times featured one local and two Pennsylvania Posse drivers. The local being Ed Lynch Jr.
Rain ruins events at Bedford, Hagerstown
