ROARING SPRING — A sign displayed in Roaring Spring simply stated: “Got Runk?’’ The Central Scarlet Dragons do, and his touchdown-saving tackle on Tyrone’s Steve Franco in the fourth quarter spearheaded a goal-line stand on the same drive as Central captured the Mountain Athletic Conference Nittany Division title with a 14-7 victory before a standing-room-only crowd Friday night at Roaring Spring Athletic Field. “We know he’ll [Runk] never put his head down. He went and saved them from tying the game up there,” Central coach A.J. Hoenstine said. “That was a big time stand as well. We had some kids that really gutted it out at the end of the game.” The win raised the Dragons’ record to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the MAC Nittany, while the Golden Eagles fell to 8-2 and 7-1. Central, with 1,320 points in District 6 Class AA receives the second seed heading into the playoffs, while Tyrone, with 1,240, will be in the third spot.
