Don Friday was officially introduced as St. Francis’ new men’s basketball coach on Friday.
LORETTO — St. Francis had a very good Friday with the introduction of its new men’s basketball coach.
Don Friday is a terrific fit for the Red Flash. On paper, at least.
His background includes plenty of specific criteria that show he should have a great understanding of the challenges a program like St. Francis faces.
Those challenges can seem massive. And even if Friday is the best coach on the planet, there’s no guarantee he will win consistently at SFU.
St. Francis has had five winning seasons in the past 30 years. Five!
Two of those — and the school’s lone NCAA Tournament berth — occurred because Mike Iuzzolino transferred from Penn State and career scoring leader Joe Anderson had to settle for St. Francis since few other schools wanted the football standout as a basketball player.
