Penn State lands two recruits

May 10, 2008

UNIVERSITY PARK -- What had been very lukewarm early returns on Penn State's 2009 football recruiting class suddenly turned scalding hot Saturday.

In less than 24 hours, Penn State may have filled half of its future defensive secondary by getting verbal commitments from cornerback Darrell Givens of Lackey High School in Indian Head, Md. and free safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong of John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx, N.Y.

Both players were at Penn State for the Nike Training Camp. By NCAA rule, no college coaches were allowed to attend.

They are the fourth and fifth players to commit for this class. Among the recruits that preceded them was strong safety Malcolm Willis. Willis is a teammate of Givens at Lackey and struck up a friendship with Obeng-Agyapong when they visited Penn State at the same time.
