Tigers’ Nocek will play at Wofford
Brad Nocek, whose personal combination of speed, agility and grit helped the Hollidaysburg Area High School football team reach the District 6 Class AAA championship game the past two seasons, has accepted an invited walk-on position with the Division I-AA collegiate Wofford (S.C.) football program.
Nocek, a three-year defensive starter for the Golden Tigers at safety, was also a starter for Hollidaysburg the past two seasons at running back.
“He’s an incredibly hard worker who is tough, coachable, and is a tremendous competitor,’’ Hollidaysburg coach John Barton said of Nocek. “He was always fighting to make plays, and his leadership and attitude brought a lot to our team.’’
Nocek was one of the Tigers’ top offensive contributors and leading tacklers as Hollidaysburg won the District 6-AAA championship his junior year and reached the title game last November before losing to Indian Valley.
