Blair County’s Luke Ottaway (Hollidaysburg) tries to shoot over Central PA’s John Link?(Cambria Heights).
LORETTO — In a game featuring plenty of players set to play on various levels of the college hardwood next season, one who may have played his last organized game stole the show. Hollidaysburg’s Luke Ottaway connected on 5-of-6 3-pointers and scored 23 of his Altoona Mirror Classic-record 27 points in the first half as the Blair County boys defeated Central PA, 108-102, in front of 1,300 fans at DeGol Arena Friday night. “I was doing pretty good, especially at the end of the first half,” Ottaway said. “All of my shots were going down, so it was a good feeling.” Ottaway, who was named the Blair County MVP, has no plans to play at the collegiate level next season, but his hot shooting in the final minutes of the second quarter shifted what had been an eight-point lead for Blair County to a 65-52 lead at the break. Then, late in the game after Central PA MVP Jordan Miller guided his team back within four, Ottaway stole a pass and hit a layup to seal the win for Blair County.
