Diesel Dawg to lead CPHS Pet Walk
The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society’s annual Pet Walk on Sunday, May 20 at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg will again feature Altoona Curve mascot Diesel Dawg as grand marshal as well as a special parade of shelter pets looking for new homes.
Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Walk begins at 1:30 p.m. Diesel Dawg will lead the walk, which is confined to the perimeter of the park, about one mile in total distance. The walk will take place rain or shine.
Funds raised will help the homeless animals at the shelter. Pet walkers are encouraged to solicit sponsors. Those raising $25 or more will earn a special-edition Pet Walk T-shirt. All who take part will receive CPHS water bottles and other treats for their animals regardless of donation amounts.
Walkers without pets can still raise funds will be given tags to wear showing their participation.
The grand prize for the walker raising the most donations is a special personalized portrait of their pet by local artist Rachel DiAndrea (Pet Arts Studio, Altoona).
Second prize is a gift certificate good for veterinary pet care.
Third prize is a gift certificate from V.I.P. Pets and Aquarium, Altoona.
Last year, the event drew more than 80 walkers with about 50 animals.
