SFU has no patience for Poe
March 13, 2007 - Neil Rudel
The fact that Jill Poe's contract was not renewed by St. Francis and along the way Bobby Jones' was tells me the Red Flash administration was not satisfied with Poe's performance off the floor.
Because her record the last two years is no worse than Jones' and her four-year body of work is in fact much better than Jones' eight-year track record, there is obviously more to this story than meets the eye.
Though she inherited a program in great shape from Myndi Hill, Poe did lead SFU to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
That, however, apparently didn't buy her enough chips. While Jones has clearly not done the job on the floor, he apparently has satisfied the administration off the floor well enough to maintain his office.
Memo of the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12: Your conference championship games are totally overshadowed by the NCAA Selection Show.
You'd do well to move your tournaments up a day, thus concluding on Saturday and enhancing the meaning of each respective final.
At this time of the year, the most valuable player in the office is the one that's running the NCAA pool.
