are April 1 - May 31
Bedford County Arts and Briar Valley Winery
present a show and sale of photographs by
MARY BETH LANDIS
Landis began her artistic career as a teenager painting with oils on canvas. She was dissatisfied, however, with the lack of sharp perfect lines and true colors, so for a time turned to writing poetry and short stories about everyday life as her creative outlet. When her husband bought her a professional camera in the 1980s, she finally found her creative niche, capturing the sharp realistic lines and true colors of her subjects through a camera lens.
Landis has always had an intense fascination with colors and shapes viewed from unique angles. She sees the world in geometric forms and solves the "puzzle" of angles and shapes by discovering the point of view that best captures the image--everyday life but with an angle. Literally.
Color has an impact that can overpower the basic shapes of an object or a scene and the majority of her work is in color. However, she has recently added black and white as well as digitally enhanced photographs to her collection.
Landis is retired from teaching and lives in Bedford with her husband Keith and Maltese puppy. Her work has been exhibited in a wide variety of venues.
Bring a group of friends or a special someone and share a glass of wine in Briar Valley Winery's congenial atmosphere. Relax, enjoy the exhibit and find the perfect photograph for your home or your office or as a gift.
Briar Valley Winery is at 107 E. Pitt St., Bedford; 814-623-0900; open noon to 5 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
Ms. Landis can be reached through email, Facebook, website, LinkedIn or phone.
