Have a Heart for Live Music This Weekend!

February 14, 2014 - Jim Price
While you are sharing hearts and candy, take some time to extend some love toward the area music scene and catch some of the musical entertainment gracing stages this Valentine’s Day weekend and upcoming week.

A number of Valentine’s Day-themed shows and parties punctuate the Friday night live music slate. Greg Burley provides the music during a Valentine’s Happy Hour celebration at the Belmar Hotel. And special Valentine’s Day parties take place at the Bavarian Hall, the Heidelberg Club, Duncansville VFW and Gallitzin IMS, all featuring live bands.

If you want to start your St. Patrick’s Day preparations a month early, Full Kilt and the Tir na Nog Irish dancers will provide entertainment to get people thinking green during the St. Brigid’s Festival at Altoona’s Knights Of Columbus Hall on Saturday evening. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the entertainment runs from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and include dinner and beverages.

And for post-Valentine’s Day grooving, Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band bring their funk-laden sounds back to the Belmar Hotel on Saturday night.

Support live music this weekend and upcoming week! And if you plan to celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a driver or call a cab!
