Winter weekend viewing

January 24, 2014 - John Mehno
No NFL this weekend (Pro Bowl doesn't count).

Weather forecast is lousy -- continued cold and snow on the way.

That means it's a perfect time to take in this vintage clip from 1965. Jim Maloney of the Reds pitches a wild no-hitter against the Cubs at Wrigley Field (49-year spoiler).

Click on the link on the right when you have an hour or so to watch it. Not only is it vintage baseball, it's also vintage TV coverage of baseball. Believe it or not, a game can be covered without dugout shots of the manager after every pitch. There's also no color analyst to deconstruct everything in detail.

It's a fun clip, and a snowy cold weekend is the perfect time to watch some baseball while we wait for the Super Bowl.
