The Last Great NFL Weekend
January 11, 2013 - John Mehno
There are four more games this weekend as the NFL playoffs continue.
It's the last great weekend for the NFL because it's two days instead of one, eight teams instead of four. Next week brings the two conference championship games, then two weeks after that it's the Super Bowl.
On Saturday, Baltimore is at Denver on CBS at 4:30, followed by Green Bay at San Francisco on FOX at 8. The first game is the most likely to be affected by weather since it's not supposed to get above 20 in Denver. I'm picking the Ravens in an upset. Then I'm taking the Packers in the NFC game.
Sunday has Seattle at Atlanta at 1 on FOX, then Houston at New England on CBS at 4:30. I'll take the home-standing Falcons despite their dubious playoff history. Then I'll pick New England to advance to the AFC Championship game again.
The weather here will be almost balmy for this time of year, so there will probably be pressure to tackle some sort of outdoor projects. The 4:30 start on Saturday gives you plenty of time to disassemble the Christmas decorations, then settle in for a excellent football doubleheader on TV.
