| | Trick or Treat on Area Stages!October 26, 2012 - Jim PriceHalloween is the big attraction on many area stages this weekend, as Halloween parties galore will entice many area music fans – and musicians – to don costumes. Many venues will be hosting costume contests as part of their Halloween festivities, so if you attend clad in your best outfit, you might win a prize! If you want to get your “Time Warp” on, Aldo’s Lounge will present their second annual showing of that time-honored Halloween season classic, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” this Friday night. Aldo’s will show the actual 1975 film starring Tim Curry on a projection screen overlooking the main stage, with the band Rain Must Fall performing select songs from the production; the group will play after the film as well. Beyond the festivus of Halloween this weekend, a special benefit concert will take place at Altoona’s UVA Club this Sunday afternoon, October 28. Proceeds from the show will benefit 35-year-old Jeremy Weyandt. Weyandt, the son of Boomers (and former Fabulous Flashbacks) singer Kathy Niedenthal, was born with cystic fibrosis, and underwent a double-lung transplant last month at UPMC Medical Center in Pittsburgh. The concert to help Weyandt will begin at 1 p.m., and will feature performances from The Backyard Rockers, The Boomers, The Randy Jackson Band, The House Band, R2B2, Big Mac and the Fries, Without Zerb and Flight 19. Donation will be $20; advanced tickets can be purchased at Dorman’s Jewelers and Thompson’s Pharmacy in Hollidaysburg. Whether donning Halloween costume or not, always remember to designate a driver if you plan to consume alcohol, and don't drive if you've had too much to drink.
