| | Super Bowl is here: heads up!February 2, 2012 - Neil RudelThe Super Bowl is Sunday, a true national holiday. While most of the world is focused on which team to pick -- Patriots or Giants -- I am more focused on something much bigger: the coin flip. Yep, before you have even settled into your easy chair, millions of dollars will have been won or lost on heads or tails. (For a complete history, check the link to the right.) After being dominated by tails for the last 15 years, heads has reversed its fortune and takes a three-game win streak into Indianapolis. Clearly, tails is due. What we really need is Jerome Bettis to call both! I'm going to break tradition (I usually pick tails) and go with heads. As for the game, it should be a toss-up, too. I like the Giants to win and/or at least cover the 3-point line. The Giants have come through a much tougher road, having to win in Green Bay and San Francisco in order to get here. Plus they're better defensively. As much as it would be cool to see Bill O'Brien arrive at Penn State as a Super Bowl champion, I'll flip the coin and take the Giants. Now, two memos to the rest of my family: 1) Keep Sue Condrin to a low roar and; 2) quit crowding the spinach dip!
Article Comments(2)85countsFeb-07-12 12:03 PM We all know that the Giants were victorious. I knew the die was cast when the Patriots recovered a fumble inside the Giant's ten yard line but the play was nullified due to "12 Patriots on the field". Tom Brady is deadly in the red zone, but it was not to be. I'm sure this rule has been in the rule book since the NFL organized. But this is the penalty that changed the outcome of the game, even though the 12th man had no part in the fumble or recovery. This has been overlooked by the media in after game interviews of both teams. I sure that there is a sideline coach that has a degree in the ability to count over 11, as well as the college graduate that committed the rediculous penalty. I'm wondering if O'Brien, the defensive coach of New England and future Garu of PSU, had anything to do with such a disasterous overlook. 304madFeb-03-12 1:22 PM I agree Neil...that I too think the Giants will cover AND win the game. Even if O' Brien doesn't win, his current mantra of coaching Tom Brady and that offense is more intriguing to recruits! Post a Comment | EZToUse.comBlog Links |
