December 4, 2011 - Buck Frank
Half-hour before kickoff of the Bengals-Steelers rematch at Heinz Field:
--The weather couldn't be any better for a December football game in Pittsburgh. The sun is shining, and temperatures are in the high 50s with a little bit of a breeze.
--The field is in great shape. Usually this time of year, the Heinz Field playing surface is a mess. But a mild November --along with re-sodding -- has the field looking like it does in September. Expect CBS analyst Phil Simms to talk about the field -- he was in the press box chatting with Bengals PR people about it earlier this morning.
--The Bengals will be without its two starting cornerbacks. Leon Hall went on injured reserve after getting injured in the first meeting with the Steelers, a 24-17 Steelers win, and Nate Clements is inactive today with a hamstring injury. Adam Jones and Kelly Jennings will start at the corners for the Bengals, who will also be without some depth on the defensive line with Pat Sims (ankle) and Carlos Dunlap (hamstring) inactive.
--OLB LaMarr Woodley will be back in the starting lineup for the Steelers, and safety Troy Polamalu will play despite sustaining concussion-like symptoms last Sunday night. Three Steelers will miss the game due to hamstring injuries -- LBs Larry Foote and Chris Carter, and WR Arnaz Battle.
--I'm predicting a high-scoring game. The Steelers will be trying to put last week's offensive performance against Kansas City behind them. We'll go with 31-20 Steelers.
