Who are these guys?
September 18, 2011 - Buck Frank
The Steelers played the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl six seasons ago, but don't expect to see the same Seahawks team today when the two teams meet at Heinz Field. Gone are Shaun Alexander, Matt Hasselbeck, Lofa Tatupu, Mike Holmgren and pretty much everyone else on that Seahawks team that supposedly was beaten by the referees in Super Bowl XL in Detroit. This year's edition of the Seahawks has a bunch of cast-offs from other teams, like quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, running back Marshawn Lynch and offensive lineman Robert Gallery. The right side of the offensive line has two rookies -- John Moffitt and James Carpenter. A couple of Seahawks people in central Pennsylvania may be familiar with -- ex-Penn Staters Michael Robinson and Deon Butler -- won't be dressed for today's game. It would seem as though the Seahawks have a bunch of no-names -- especially on defense -- on a team that went to the playoffs last season but went 7-9 during the regular season. It will be the Steelers' attempt today to keep them as no-names.
